Why FileAlloy

Editable .docx output

Paragraphs, headings, and tables become real Word content you can edit, not a flat image.

Layout preserved

The converter keeps the document's structure and formatting as close to the original as possible.

Gone on response

The PDF is converted in memory and cleared the instant the .docx is sent back.

Same result each run

No model guesses at the layout, and processing stays in the EU, so the conversion is repeatable and private.

Do it at scale with the API

Converting PDFs to Word inside your app or document workflow? The same operation is a single call to /v1/pdf-to-word, so you can batch and automate it with no browser.

Frequently asked questions

What format do I get back?

A standard Microsoft Word .docx file that opens in Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice, and Pages.

Does it work on scanned PDFs?

Scanned pages are images, so run OCR first to make them searchable, then convert. See our OCR endpoint.

Are my files stored?

No. Files are processed in memory and deleted immediately after the response. Nothing is written to disk or logs.

Is there a free option?

Yes. The free plan includes a monthly request quota, with sub-cent pricing above it.

What is the endpoint?

POST /v1/pdf-to-word with the PDF as multipart form data.

Can I convert many PDFs at once?

Call the endpoint once per file. It is stateless, so you can convert a batch in parallel.
